PARENT'S GUIDES TO EXPLICIT BOOKS IN ALBUQUERQUE AND LAS CRUCES PUBLIC SCHOOLS
All across the state, school libraries have many books which contain age-inappropriate, explicit content. These are books with detailed descriptions of child rape, sex acts between adults and children, children using hard drugs and sex toys, children engaging in cutting and suicidal behaviors, excessively violent imagery, etc.
Most parents have no idea that these books are present in their children's schools. In some cases, explicit books are even being assigned to students in the classroom, such as this case in Santa Fe: https://www.dailysignal.com/2025/02/28/mom-tries-get-pornographic-content-daughters-high-school-curriculum/
Exposing kids to sexually explicit and sexually violent books is harmful to kids and increases the likelihood of risky sex. https://newmexicosun.com/stories/670139237-opinion-how-parents-can-protect-their-children-from-explicit-content-in-new-mexico-public-schools
We want to make sure that parents know about the age-inappropriate content their kids may be provided at school. To that end, our website now has parent's guides to explicit books in Albuquerque and Las Cruces Public Schools. Both parent's guides can be downloaded here:

These booklets are resources for Albuquerque and Las Cruces parents who want to protect their children from age-inappropriate content. They list the worst books in each school and give examples of the content of each book.
HOW YOU CAN HELP PROTECT KIDS IN YOUR DISTRICT
We now have a working group of concerned parents and community members who want to protect kids from age-inappropriate content in school libraries.
We need your help to illuminate the situation in districts all across the state. Volunteers can help by searching school library websites to compile lists of books in specific districts.
If you want to help, please email Sarah: concernedfornm@gmail.com.

A BIG WIN IN THE BATTLE AGAINST AGE-INAPPROPRIATE EXPLICIT BOOKS IN SCHOOLS
In the legislature, two Bills (HB27 and SB552) were proposed in an attempt to protect librarians from being accountable for ensuring that materials provided to children are age appropriate. SB552 would have also prevented community members from challenging age-inappropriate sexually explicit books in school libraries.
GOOD NEWS! The Parent's Guide booklets for Albuquerque and Las Cruces were effectively used to stop these two bad Bills.
Republican legislators secured enough copies to provide booklets to each legislator during the floor hearing. Although they were prepped and ready to go (thank you, Representative Rebecca Dow!), the small excerpts that were leaked were more than enough to prevent the three hour for debate that would have occurred.
Both Bills failed! This is a big win to ensure that community members can continue urging their local school districts to take responsibility for ensuring that books provided to students are age appropriate.
SAVE OUR CHILDREN DOCUMENTARY
Ben Luna's Save Our Children Documentary is now completed and FREE to watch! This documentary features NM grassroots leaders alongside national speakers such as James Lindsay, Logan Lancing, and Alvin Lui. The goal of the documentary is to raise awareness of the sexualization and indoctrination that is happening in NM schools.

CONTINUED TRANSGENDER INDOCTRINATION IN NM SCHOOLS
A Gays Against Groomers member recently attended a GLSEN meeting in New Mexico to understand the situation now that the Trump administration has issued an executive order banning transgender indoctrination in schools. The meeting was attended by school personnel from several NM districts who talked about how they will resist these orders.
"Faculty in conservative areas report that their principals have required them to remove all Pride flags from classrooms and to stop discussing gender to comply with the [executive] order. One teacher, with multicolored hair and glitter on her face, is using her tenure to push back against the administration and is refusing to remove the Pride flags from her classroom. In response, other teachers suggested wearing rainbow shirts to school instead. This proposal was met with support."
..."teachers in liberal communities were willing to risk losing federal funding for their schools or districts in defiance of the order, which prohibits discussing sexuality and "gender identity” with children. Despite our state's ranking as one of the lowest in public education success, these teachers and support staff are prepared to further compromise students' education for the sake of ideology. Their commitment to indoctrinating children is unwavering because they themselves have been indoctrinated."
